The POWER in the STICK

Watching Walking Tall on cable and was amazed what this dude called Bufford Pusser went through. Pusser (I would never say his last name out loud) did kick ass, no doubt:

1962 elected constable
1963 elected Sheriff of McNairy County
Shot eight times
Knifed seven times
Fought off six men at once, sending 3 to jail & 3 to the hospital
Destroyed 87 whiskey stills in 1965 alone
Killed two people in self-defense
Served three consecutive terms as sheriff

He certainly paid the price as well. On August 12, 1967, his wife Pauline was shot in the head while riding along with Buford who was responding to a call. During the ambush, Buford had his jaw shot off.

On August 21, 1974, Buford was returning home from a media event in Memphis where it was announced he would play himself in a movie called "Buford." He stopped over at the McNairy County Fair to sign some autographs and continued on. Somewhere between Selmer and Adamsville on Highway 64, Buford lost control of his Corvette where he crashed and burned.

A rare breed where almost everyone else was bought and justice was a forgotten notion. Rack Bufford Pusser.

Man, I remember when the Walking Tall movies were the biggest, baddest, flicks in the world, I remember talking about them all the time way back in Junior High and HS, Sherrif Pusser was the fucking man!

I ever told you guys about the game of "STICK?" You get a carload of white-folk, drive down to a deeply ethnic part of the city and find a group of minorities congregated near the road. then, one person leans out the car window, yells a series of racial slurs and throws the stick at the aforementioned group of minorities.

The trick of the game is for the yeller and thrower (or "pitcher") to get out of the car a couple blocks away and go retrieve the "stick."
